Recently there has been an explosion of stereotyping associated with young people. Lancashire Police Authority created Typecast to give you a chance to have your say. We started by talking and listening to you to get your views on the bad press that you seem to receive.
You said:
- That the majority of press coverage is negative about you
- Adults think you all act badly and in an anti-social manner
- That the best way to communicate with you is through social networking sites like bebo and Myspace
So with your input we created a social media hub for 11-19 year olds..
- You gave us ideas for the look, feel and name of the site.
- We created an interactive site which was easy to navigate round, looked interesting and gave you the freedom to hit back.
This site was created by teenagers for teenagers
There are a lot of people that have helped contribute towards this project and we would like to thank them all for their support.
Special thanks go to:
The young people from the Urban Exchange in Preston and at Connexions in Blackpool who helped develop Typecast through idea formation, brand design, checking copy and being really positive about the project!
Crime Solutions part of the University of Central Lancashire who provided funding to help get this project going.
Portfolio - for their zest and creativity when working with young people to create this site
RockFM for really getting behind the Awards and all that Adam and the team are doing.
